You Are Welcome!

Regardless of whether you've been 'doing' church for years, are thinking of returning, or would just like to give it a go, a warm welcome awaits.

We're now back Onsite every Sunday Morning - so do join us at 9am for our Traditional Service, or 10:30 for our Relaxed Service.

All our Onsite Services usually have communion (some call it a Eucharist, or Mass) - a space when we remember the last time Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples and commanded us to continue it.  It speaks of welcome, unity and blessing, and if this is new to you, just get in touch - we'd love to explain and explore this incredible sacrament with you.

We're also aware that, for various reasons, some of us can't gather together in person.  Therefore, we're delighted that our Online Church Community is continuing.  It's been a great space for those who regularly attend, and for those who are exploring and want a safe and anonymous way to 'dip their toes' into church life.   Of course, if you're ill or having to self-isolate, you can be part of it too - everyone is welcome.

We haven't, as yet, restarted our mid-week communion, but plans are in the pipeline to do so.... However, we have restarted our Home Communions, so if you are unable to get to church because of illness or disability, do get it touch and we'd be privileged to celebrate communion in your home. We are also restarting our communion visits to our local care homes too - do get in touch if you'd like us to visit.

The Classic One:

If you enjoy the dignity, stability and beauty of spoken liturgy alongside music from our wonderful organ, complete with robed clergy, a sermon and a weekly Eucharist (communion), this is the ideal service for you.

The Relaxed One

Our 10:30 is an intergenerational relaxed, friendly and contemporary service!

With space for everyone to get involved, crafts for our children, and the mix of old and new songs, this is the ideal way to start off your Sunday!

If you are new to church, this is the ideal place to try!

The Online One
Facebook & YouTube

We started our Online Service when Covid struck, and it's been growing in strength ever since.

It blends both traditional worship (so expect a bit of spoken liturgy - words that have been said for centuries), and contemporary songs. It also include a pithy sermon and intercessions (prayers).

If you're new or unsure about church, this is a great place to come along to anonymously.

Of course, if you're looking to get involved - comment away!

Evening Prayer

7pm every night

Prayer is at the very heart of our community.

Ever since lockdown began in the UK, we've been gathering each night for ten minutes to pray for our families, communities, nations and ourselves.

We use a range of different prayers, often Compline from the Church of England, or Iona prayers from the Iona Community.

Other Services ....

On top of our regular services, we also have a wide selection of 'one off' services. Do keep an eye on the 'events' for when they are happening, and we also advertise everything in our weekly newsletter and on our Facebook page too.

Online @7pm

A stunning reflective service of song, silence and contemplation - it's a wonderful way to end one month ready for the next.

During lockdown, we gathered together each month for our Taize service on the first Sunday evening of the month. We are now exploring whether to bring it back Onsite or keep it online - we'll let you know shortly.

Messy Church
Saturdays, 3-5pm

We've been utterly delighted to gather again Onsite for our Messy Church!

At the moment, we can't quite staff a monthly Messy Church, but don't worry, we will have one once a half term, usually themed around the major themes of the season.

Do join us for this fun filled, creative exploration of faith, finishing with a hearty meal!

Festival Services

A yearly rhythm is a such an important part of our church's life.

So throughout the year, we celebrate 'Festival Services' such as Harvest Sunday, Remembrance, Christingle, Mothering Sunday, Easter, Pet Services and more....

These happen both Online and Onsite @St. Johns, so do keep an eye on the event page for more details.

Evensong & BCP

Sadly, we don't quite have the resources at present for a regular Evensong, but the beauty and dignity of this service is one that we value, and so we seek to work in collaboration with others to make them happen throughout the year.  Keep an eye out on our Events, Newsletters and Facebook page for more information.

Although we don't use BCP regularly, it is another service that we love, and we will usually have one once a term. Again, do keep an eye on the various channels and we will advertise when this will be.

Small Groups

We run a number of study groups and course throughout the year.

These can include courses that help us explore our faith, such as Alpha or Start!.

Then there are the groups that help us go deeper in our faith, such as The Bible Course, Prayer Course or our daily Lent song and videos on our YouTube Channel.

Then there are the courses that look at our well being - we annually do the Resolve Course or the Wellbeing Journey.

Keep an eye out for what is coming next, there is something for everyone!

Telephone Service

During lockdown, some of our congregation found it difficult to get online, and wanted more than the weekly newsletter.

So we set up our 'Telephone Service' which continues today! We simply upload the Online Talk to it, so that you can still be part of our community, even if you can't get onsite.....
